My bank account has closed since my refund was issued, will I still get my refund?

Updated over a week ago

If you’ve received a refund but your original bank account or credit card has since closed, please follow the guidance below.

Refund Processing Timeline

  • Allow up to 60 working days for the refund to be successfully transferred.

  • During this time, your original financial institution may still receive the refund, even if the account is closed.

Using a Bank Switching Service

  • If you used a bank switching service, many banks will automatically forward incoming payments to your new account.

  • Check with your new bank to confirm if this applies in your case.

Important Security Information

  • We cannot send refunds to a different bank account or credit card than the one originally used. This is to protect your financial security and prevent fraud.

Next Steps if You Haven’t Received the Refund After 60 Working Days

If 60 working days have passed and your refund has not appeared:

Contact your previous bank or credit card provider.

  • They may be able to trace the transaction.

  • In some cases, the funds may be sitting in a holding account.

  • Your financial institution can arrange for the money to be forwarded to your new account.
