Why is it important to add a company name?
Since the advent of GDPR, it is now the law for customers to opt in to future marketing from a brand or company. Retaining a customer’s contact data for marketing without the customer’s consent could leave you open to huge fines and more than a few days in court.
Customers opt in to future marketing at the checkout. This appears as a tick box at the bottom of the checkout form, where they have to select Yes, I would like to receive marketing from the organiser, or No thanks. They cannot checkout without stating their preference.
It’s vital then to update your profile on your promoter account to include your official company name, as this will be displayed at the checkout when the customer gets their opt in options.
Everyone that opts in agrees to sharing their data with both Skiddle and the event promoter. If you do not put in your company’s name, your personal name will appear at the checkout instead.
Having your company name added makes it more likely that a customer will opt in to marketing, meaning the data can be used by your events brand to promote new shows, special offers and more, which as we all know, is a highly valuable asset.
To add your company name, head to the Dashboard in the Promotion Centre, and select My Profile, or head there directly via this link.
