50 STEPS
-
Lets take a look at how to create an event listing on Skiddle. Start by logging in to the Promotion Centre and clicking on manage events.
If you have just signed up to the site and are listing for the first time, skip to step 3. -
Click "Add new event".
-
We are now on the add event page. If you have just signed up, this is the first page you will see.
Lets start by selecting a venue. Start typing the name of the venue you are looking for. For this example, we are looking for a Test Venue. -
Once you find the venue you are looking for, click it to select it.
-
Next is your event name. This should be the name only, not the venue and/or date.
For example, if this event is a band's gig, then name the event "Band name". We're going to call this "Testfest 2020". -
There are many different categories your event could come under, including: Live music gig, Festival, Club Night, Food/Drink etc. Click here to see a drop down of all categories.
-
For this example, we are going to select "Live Music Gig".
-
Here you can write a brief description of your event. This will appear underneath the event name at the top of the listing.
You should aim for this to be between 100 and 150 characters. -
The "Full Description" is where you can put all the details of your event: Line up information, event details, directions to the venue... Whatever you deem necessary for the customer to know about your event!
-
Next, we're going to set the date and time for your event, starting with the day. Click here for a drop down list.
-
For this example, our event is going to take place on the 7th.
-
Next is the month.
-
We're going to select April for this.
-
And finally, the year.
-
Lets go with 2020.
-
Next is the time of the event. Click here for a drop down list.
-
This event is going to start at 7pm, so lets select 7.
-
Maybe you don't want to allow people in after a certain time? Here, we can set a last entry time.
-
Lets go for 8pm.
-
Click here for a drop down list.
-
As you can see, you can choose a time at 15 minute intervals.
-
Click here to choose between AM and PM.
-
Select PM.
-
And finally, we can let people know when the event ends.
-
This event has an 11pm curfew, so lets select 11.
-
Again, we need to change this to PM.
-
Select PM.
-
Here, we can see a summary of the event date and time.
If something appears wrong, make sure to check whether your times are set for AM or PM and/or whether you have additional days added. -
Here, we can tag artists who are performing at your event.
-
If you cannot find the artist you are looking for, they may need to be added to the system, which can be done here.
-
At Testfest 2020, we have "Test Skiddle" performing, so start typing their name. Like when selecting a venue, names will start to appear below this box.
-
Select "Test Skiddle" to add them to the lineup.
-
In the case of music events, you will need to specify the genre(s) that apply.
We're going to make this a rock/pop/indie event, so lets first select "Rock" by typing it in. -
Click "Rock" to add that genre.
-
Next lets add "Pop".
-
And finally, "Indie". You can up to 5 genres to an event.
-
Next up, entry prices. This is simply information and does not set ticket prices.
For example, you may have multiple ticket types for sale at different prices, with the cheapest being £5. Lets put "From £5 incl fees". -
Next to this is the age restriction for the event.
Testfest 2020 has a minimum age of 16, so lets put this here. -
A good image is vital for your listing and must meet our criteria, to get the most out of Skiddle. Select "Upload" to see this criteria.
-
Here, we can upload an image. This should contain no more than 20% text and be at least 800 x 800 pixels.
Clicking select image will take you to the image uploader. -
For this event, we're going to use an image we've used before, so click "Previous Images".
-
If this isn't your first event you've created, your previously used images will be here, allowing you to quickly select one and use it again.
-
We're going to use this image here, by selecting the button underneath it.
-
Here, you can upload a Flyer Image.
This is where you can upload an image with no text restrictions, with as much event information as you like. Customers will be able to click and expand this image for a closer look. -
You have the option of paid promotion for your event here, with what we call a "Featured Event".
Your event will be more prominent on Skiddle, showing higher in search results and are highlighted by a "Featured" banner, so they stand out. -
For now, we're going to skip the event feature and list this event for free.
You can come back at a later date and apply an event feature, should you choose to. -
Once you're happy with your event information, scroll down and click "Save event".
If you want to save what you have created so far, but don't want the event live to the public yet, select "Draft mode" before clicking save. -
That's it! You're listed!
Click here to go to the Manage Event page and see what you've created! -
The manage event page allows you to make changes to your event, see how many people have viewed your event, cancel/postpone events and lots more. For now, lets take a look at how this looks to the public.
Click on the event URL. -
And here we are, your public listing!
